This lens hood is perfect for my Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II SLR Lens and Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 IS II Telephoto Zoom Lens for Canon Digital SLR Cameras.It actually attaches to the lens (not the threads where a UV filter would go) which holds it on snug, and allows to attach upside down for storage. Since it does not attach to the threads, this leaves ample room for the lens cap to attach firmly.I will be ordering another one or two of these soon. The first I had on my 18-55, and unfortunately dropped my camera. The lens hood took the blow and broke, but left my lens perfectly in tact.I also tried purchasing Professional 58mm Digital Tulip Flower Lens Hood For canon 18-55mm , 28-80mm , 28-90mm , 28-105mm , 55-250mm , 70-300mm , 75-300mm , 100-300mm , 50mm 1.4 , 85mm 1.8 with Lens cap Holder and Lens cleaning Kit. DO NOT BUY THAT lens hood. It threads onto the top of the lens (where a UV filter would go) and does not fit well... Also does not let you attach the lens cap without removing the hood! This lens hood is definitely worth the $6 price tag!I purchased it for the kit lens for my (outdated) Rebel XT and it fits perfectly! I was pleased to discover that it secures onto the outer rim of the lens allowing the use of the normal lens cap and even fits in reverse for storage.It is a little difficult to twist it into locked position when the lens is extended because the lens twists as well, but if you retract the lens fully before installing it, you shouldn't have a problem.

I took the risk of buying this lens hood with now reviews attached to it (i am the first reviewer, woot). I would like to say that this lens hood is good. It is hard to put on the lens, but i don't know if this is the same for all hoods because this is the first lens hood i own. However, when the hood is on, it is sturdy and will not come off, how matter how hard you shake your camera. The "Flower Pedals" stick out fairly far, which provides shade from the sun. Also, this lens hood will attach on the lens backwards for camera storage.
