By Guillermo
I have used the opteka batteries for a couple of months. I do a lot of video shooting, where they last 2/3 of the original canon battery (around 40-50 minutes). When I bought them, the original canon LP-E8 where $60. Now the price difference isn't that big. The really big downside of this batteries is that they don't have the chip necessary to tell how much juice is left in them. So you get a jump from full battery, according to the camera, to a red blinking warning. If you do a lot of live events (as me) this is a total NO NO.Hopefully there are third party batteries on ebay that come with the chip and canon batteries are dropping the price. Right now, i would skip this opteka ones.

By Benjamin Hollander
I have had no problems with this battery whatsoever. I was a tiny bit hesitant to use a battery that was not from Canon but for the price it was impossible to resist. I saw a $70 1500 mAh Canon battery at a well known electronics store after I purchased this $13 2000mAh battery. I smiled. The battery charges fine, holds a charge fine and for $13 you cannot beat it. Someone told me they wouldn't buy a battery like this because they don't trust the quality and prefer to get the Canon battery and not deal with worrying about it failing. To that I say buy 4 of these for about $53. You save almost $20 and even if one or two fail you still saved your self money and gained a battery or two. That being said I only bought one and have had no problems with it.

By Bruce Foreman
I had used Opteka batteries with my T1i and they seemed to perform just like the Canon batteries so I took a chance on them with my T2i.So far they seem to be working just like the Canon batteries with no communication functions crippled. I'll order a couple more soon.
