I got my tripod in today and loved it from the second I opened it. First I tested it without my camera on it, I always make double sure. The auto level feet were stiff but worked well when the tripod was extended. The plastic head was pretty solid. It is still a bit stiff when panning but it is new, once it is broken in I am sure it will be smooth as silk. I do not know that I would trust the head with vertical shooting seeing as it does not have good stops at 90 degrees but I have a grip for than and do not shoot vertical with a tripod. One of my favorite things is that the grips slide fairly easily so I covered the Polaroid print on the leg. The carry handle slides up and down and does not lock but it is a nice feature. The ring lock on the extender works great but like all tripods, when it is at max height it is a little unstable. If you have to shoot full height I would suggest a remote or bulb so you do not have to push the button to make the camera wobble. I am using a Canon T1I with dual battery grip and tested it with a 75-300mm lens, not a light setup and it preformed like a champ. I took a 30 second exposure with an IR filter zoomed to 300mm and did not see any wobble streaks. Not what, 2 days later and I was panning. The entire head with camera attached fell off in my hand. I will include photos of this nightmare in a few minutes when I get my spare card re-formatted.

By Jeremy Polickey
Just received it today and put it right to work. It arrived exactly on time and was packaged well. Out of the box, I liked the carrying bag that came with it, although it isn't quite as adjustable as I would like. It fits comfortably over one shoulder, but not slung across the back. Out of the bag I liked the extra quick release plate, and they both fit well on my Canon Rebel T3. I'm not too sure I like the plastic knobs that turn the screw into the camera though. The quick release plates fit well into the head. As for the tripod's actual performance, there were things I liked, and things I didn't.I liked the quick release latches on the legs, they extended smoothly and latched securely. I also liked the pivoting feet which helped keep it level and the leg support mechanism. I also like the attached carrying handle. Tilting was fairly smooth, but when it came to panning, there was a lot of play in the head even when the knob was tightened all the way, perhaps 1/8th of an inch to 1/4 of a inch. I also didn't like the side tilt mechanism, it seems cheap and flimsy, and doesn't line up to a true 90 degree turn, so one of the legs has to be adjusted. The biggest disappointment was the center crank to raise and lower the camera. It would not tighten to be immobile at all. It would reach it's limit then suddenly slip, clearly the knob was stripped out. It did hold the camera up successfully, but I would be concerned about putting too much weight on it. In general, it's fairly well made and sturdy, and definitely worth the price of $25.00. I'm starting a new semester and a new photography class so we'll see how well it holds up.
