Tokina to me used to mean low quality and I was dubious when ordering this lens. But I have been very pleased with the sharp, high quality images I have gotten from this lens. I have used it in several different situations and the results have been excellent. I would highly recommend this lens.

-- I was a little concerned about buying my first non-Canon lens. But I had less money than I was concerned about not having a fancy red-ring. This lens is awesome. Great picture quality, fast-focus and... more great picture quality. The lens looks much better in person and has the weight and feel of a top-quality professional lens.If you have an APS-C/H stills camera or a Super35 digital cinema camera, you must get this lens. Seriously, stop reading and purchase this. The only complaint I have is the focus ring. Though it is cool and gimmicky, I'd rather have a proper on/off switch. You'll need to pull from both sides of the ring to move it from Manual/Auto.

By Melvin D. Guinn
You need this lens if you are using APS-C camera. Very reasonable price. I did use this lens for my grandpa's 90th birthday. There were about 20 people, 2 rows and I was about 15-18 feet away and the lens was wide enough to capture 20 people. My picky is the lens cap. Feels like it is about to fall off if not properly insert.
