By Eaglecook
I read some of the negative reviews about this item, but thought I would give it a try anyway with Amazon's awesome return policy. So what I discovered is that the people that are saying that the lens feels like it will fall off are not istalling it completely on the lens. There is a small spring steel catch on the adapter that you need to locate. As you are putting the adapter onto the lens (I recomend doing this prior to mounding on the camera) you may need to depress that piece of spring steel with an eyeglass screwdriver or something similar. It just get's hung up sometimes and won't depress so the lens does not go all the way on. If done correctly you should hear a small "click" and should not be able to take the adapter off the lens without again depressing that catch.Once mounted, I found this to be a sturdy piece of gear. It's not fancy but it does work fine. Just be aware that you will not have control of your auto functions when you use this. You will be on manual focus and your other auto lens functions will not work, but it's better than not being able to use those nice lenses you have laying around!

By DOBrien
After having purchased the Fotodiox adapter with focus confirmation, I wanted to give the non-chipped adapter a try. For some reason neither my 5D nor my 1DS MKII actually beeped to confirm focus with the other chip, so that feature was a waste anyways. Please note that I did modify my lenses for this to work on a full frame. Anyone who has researched will know that the aperture lever and guard on the PK lenses hit and can damage the mirror on full frame. So, I dremeled off the aperture lever on my Tokina 300mm 5.6 prime, and my Pentax 28mm 3.5 prime, as I don't even own a Pentax SLR any more and have no use for them, and away I went!BUILD/QUALITYThis all metal adapter seems to be pretty good quality! It fit my Canon like a glove, so it must have been made to high standards! I have not witnessed any problems with the release lever, it works as it should. I have not experienced any of the "wiggle" that others have with other adapters, and that's even using the giant 300mm prime lens that I have!RESULTSI was sad to find that this adapter did not work on my full frame camera, as the fotodiox AF confirm chip did. It kept giving me an error, and doing funny things with my mirror locking up. After a couple of tries I gave up, not wanting to damage my camera. For crop DLSRs (specifically the Rebel t2i) I am pretty pleased with the results from this adapter. There is no light leakage, nor loss of quality. Infinity focus is solid, and after using this adapter with several lenses, I have not been disappointed. I have added a customer image (image of a duck) to show you the quality that this adapter will help you attain. Lenses are perfectly placed, and retain all the quality you would expect from the well made Pentax/For Pentax line!WHY 5 STARS?- Well made, no quality issues (+)- Not a bad price for the ability to use lenses that would cost upwards of $500 in the Canon line (+)- Does not work with full frame, and not because of lens problems (-)OVERALLI would highly recommend this adapter for those with crop sensor DSLRs. I am so glad that I can now use my quality prime lenses, breathing new life into them! For those of you wanting to use your old PK lenses on full frame cameras, I have used and would recommend this adapter: Fotodiox Lens Mount Adapter with Dandelion AF Focus Confirmation Chip, Pentax K/PK to Canon EOS Camera adapter, fits Canon EOS 7D, 20D, 30D, 40D, 50D, 60D, Digital Rebel xt, xti, xs, xsi, t1i, t2i,t3, t3i,300D, 350D, 400D, 450D, 500D, 550D, 600D, 1100D,...

By Mindfulmonkey
I ordered and received item exactly as described. Shipping was prompt and delivery was fast, and packaging was fine. The item is and works exactly as described. This is basically a single solid piece of metal machined to allow PK mount lenses to fit Canon EOS bodies. There is a small spring lock fastened to the adapter to prevent the lens from twisting off during use. This spring is rather stiff but it needs to be to function as intended. The good - The adapter fits both the camera and the lens tightly. It may seem to tight to some but I prefer to think of it as snug and it does hold the lens firmly in place on the body. I have used this with both a Pentax 50mm f1.4 prime and a Vivitar 28mm f2.8 prime but only on my EOS 500 (Rebel T1i). In both cases I had full range of focus. I did not have to modify anything for the lenses to work with my body but I have a crop sensor camera, so your mileage may vary. The adapter comes off the camera and lens with pretty much the same effort it takes to put it on. Again I don't see this as a negative. I don't change lenses that often and things wear looser, not tighter. The bad - Without an electronic connection to the camera there is no "in focus" indicator and without the trusty split prism of my K1000 SE, it is VERY hard to focus in low light. Also note that your lens won't stop down automatically so the aperture set on the lens is what you see in the viewfinder. If you don't know what this means, you probably should find out before buying any sort of adapter.Overall - I love this thing and will soon be ordering another one except with a focus indicator. With my crop sensor camera, this adapter lets me use my old Pentax 50mm as a portrait lens and the Vivitar as a "normal" lens. And the results are great, especially with the old Pentax glass. Because the lens won't stop-down automatically, I have to use the camera in Manual mode for the meter readings to be relevant. You might think this is a huge drawback but, to me, it makes photography fun again. I'm starting to take the kind of photos I did back when I was young and still had an imagination. I have to actually think about what I am doing and the results are that I am starting to make photographs instead of just taking pictures. Honestly, pairing an old all manual lens with a DSLR like this sort of feels like shooting with film. I would guess it is the deliberateness needed to use this setup as well as the amount of time each shot takes. These combine to make each more costly than the all auto super camera approach and I remember film was certainly costly. I know this all sounds like romantic horse-hockey and maybe it is but in the two weeks I've had this, I have produced more frame-worthy photos than I have in the last year with the camera. Sure I have burned though a lot of really bad photos, just like when I was a kid, but the good ones are spectacular. With the depth of field control and sharpness I don't know is even possible with a zoom lens. At least not one I will ever be able to afford. So why not five stars? As I said before focusing is difficult. Not impossible but difficult enough to prevent me from ever using this item in a one-chance-to-get-the-shot situation, like the birth of a grandchild. That is the only drawback I see in this product but it is serious enough for me to take a star off my review on a product that is exactly what it claims to be.
