Short form: Good product, lots of fun.I've only used these for 3 days, so any long-term issues will not have shown up.That being said, I am entirely satisfied with my purchase. I have tested them on my Nikon D5000 with all three lenses that I own (kit 18-55mm, Nikkor 55-200mm, and the Tamron 18-270mm). I have had no mechanical or electronic issues with any of the lenses. The fit between camera and tube, and that between extension tube and lens is a little bit stiffer than between camera and lens, but not to the extent that I have any concerns for the camera body or the lens. (This stiffness is the reason that this product gets 4 rather than 5 stars.) The tubes feel nice and solid, with no play, even after the 18-270mm went on the 36mm tube. The laws of physics do put some limitations on these devices. You can't just slap the extension tube in and go off and take photos near and far with abandon. "Infinity" is spitting distance with the tube installed. With the 18-270, the maximum focus distance was about 12 feet at 270mm. The reduced field of view also reduces the amount of light gathered. You'll soon find yourself wanting some sort of flash to help out. As the focal distance decreases, and you need a larger aperture, DOF reduces drastically. At 55mm with the 20mm tube, DOF at f/22 was about 1 inch; at f/36 it was 1.5 inches. Some quick observations:Using the kit 18-55mm lens with the 20mm extension tube, minimum focal length is about 25-27mm. At that distance, your subject is touching the lens. I got pollen on my UV filter trying to take a picture of an Agapanthus blossom. Anything shorter and your focal distance is inside the lens. The 18-270mm is too big to take advantage of the really close-up pictures afforded by the 20mm tube. I think the focal plane was inside the lens until about 75mm.Bottom line: An inexpensive way to dabble in macro photography, and a helluva lot of fun.

The fit is very tight, no slop. The automatic features of the Canon EOS 5d work as if the lens is mounted on the camera body. Very nice. I also have a set of Vivitar automatic extension tubes that I purchased many years ago for my Canon A-1 and FT. Those still work, but I do very little film photography.

Despite the reviews saying that it was exceeding difficult to get the lenses off the tubes I purchased them anyway. The people were right. It was nearly impossible to get my lens off the tube. I believe that the metal tabs used to retract the locking pin flexes too much when pressed so it doesn't retract the pin completely. I took a small pointed pair of tweezers and inserted the pointed end in the gap on top of the metal tab that's created when you push the tab down. This pushes the locking pin down and the lens came off easily. The actual tubes worked fine and I got some very nice close-ups.
