The Polaroid PL144 Shoe Mount Flash is an economical full-TTL enabled flash with support for digital SLR cameras. It features a powerful Guide Number of 148'/45 m at 85mm position, and features a power-zoom flash head that covers a focal range from 24mm to 85mm.The flash includes a built-in slave function which allows it to be positioned off-camera, and triggered by any second flash. You can also manually adjust the power level of the flash output from full-power down to 1/16th. It is the perfect economical all-purpose flash for any digital or 35mm SLR shooter.

Great for Beginners/Learning

Hi! I hate to give too much uneducated praise, because I honestly have never used an external flash/speedlite or any lighting devices beyond available light to take photos, but I think this flash is great so far! I bought the Polaroid PL-144AZ to use as a beginner flash so I can learn before I'm willing to invest in the much more expensive Canon Speedlites. Right out of the box, I added batteries, stuck it on my Canon 7D, and turned it on Auto. I was in a situation where I was taking photos of people with bright sunlight directly behind the subject(s), and the flash filled the foreground very nicely (while still maintaining detail in the background). I was impressed for not knowing what I was doing! This flash appears to have all the same functions/features as the better Canon Speedlites (zoom, swivel, etc), but I can't compare quality of light since I haven't used anything else.Like I said, I bought this flash so I can learn, so once I have more testing done, I'll add to this review and maybe add photo examples. There were no reviews at all when I purchased this, so I at least wanted to say that it works! I would definitely recommend it if you are in my boat and need a flash to practice/learn or a 2nd/spare flash. You can't beat the price, and it's from a great photo brand.

Don't let a review on here fool you about this not working with the rebel t3i. It works amazingly well. Compared it with the canon 430exII flash and found no difference between the two.Love it!

Great Flash!! Just as good as the Canon 430 Series

I was won over buying this Flash after being happy with the Polaroid Battery Grip for my Canon Rebel T1i. It's about the same size and has the almost the same features as the Canon 480 Speedlight Flash series. Take a look for yourself and compare the features with the Canon Flash compared to the Polaroid Flash.I was really amazed on how well this flash enhance my photos, and I'm very happy that I only spent half of what I would have spent If I got the Canon Brand. I think this particular flash is perfect for beginners as well as for the professional who needs to buy a spare. So if you're on a budget, or need to buy a spare, get the Polaroid Flash, trust me you won't be disappointed.I also like to mention if you need a diffuser I recommend buying the Polaroid Flash Diffuser For The Canon 430, 430 II EX it fits very well with this flash.
