By Jeep-PS
I am an Engineer, I used to work with some applications of Lithium batteries professionally, and I still have access to some advanced computerized testing equipment. I before I bought this Lenmar, I had purchased some of those cheapy 2-for-$12 batteries from the Amazon marketplace. I also still have the original Canon pack, and a Promaster (~$65 retail). The main measure of battery performance is capacity in terms of milli-Amp Hours (mAh). I charged each one with the original Canon charger, then put it on the tester for a discharge cycle to measure capacity. Here are the results along with the rated capacity claimed on the packaging:Original Canon, rated 1120mAh, Tested 1150mAh (~ 1 year old)Cheapy 2for$12's, rated 1500mAh, Tested 780mAh and 796mAh (new)Promaster, rated 1200 mAh, Tested 1010 mAh (~ 1 year old)This Lenmar, rated 1120 mAh, Tested 1115 mAh! (new)This Lenmar comes closest to the original Canon pack, which is an incredible value for the price compared to $85 for another Canon. Every cell is a little different, so manufacturers usually say +/- 5% or so on the capacity ratings. I'd wager that if you tested 10 Canon packs and 10 Lenmar packs the average would be the same. One of the big complaints about the cheapy-type batteries is that the battery meter goes from full to empty suddenly with no warning. While I haven't run this Lenmar battery through a cycle in the camera yet, from what I saw on the tester the voltage curve is very similar to the Canon pack, which should mean the meter should work properly (I highly doubt there is a chip in the pack that monitors voltage and reports it, it's probably in the camera). The voltage curve of those cheapy batteries was higher all around by about 0.2V, which is enough to throw off the meter in the camera. They probably use a little bit different chemistry, which can change the cell voltage slightly.I'm also betting this Lenmar won't have any problems with video mode like those cheapies, because it's full capacity it wont suffer as much voltage drop under higher-draw conditions. If I'm wrong on either of these I'll be sure to update this review. I know how helpful a good review is.There is no reason to pay $85 for a OEM battery. All that's in there is two Li-Ion cells, and maybe a simple protection circuit (maybe not, I haven't looked). If you look online you can find quality loose cells like the ones that are in there (1120 mAh rated with dimensions about the same LxW and half the Height) for $5 to $10 each. Canon is charging something like 300% markup on their packs. Before I found this Lenmar I was tempted to tear apart a cheapy and replace the cells, but now there's no need. I also found that there are no cells this size available rated much more than 1120mAh - this probably means that any pack out there advertised much more than 1120-1200mAh (i.e. 1500mAh, 1700mAh, 2000mAh) are completely bogus, because it's just not possible to get that capacity in this size battery. In short - I highly reccomend this battery. Its got good cells in it, they are full capacity, and every bit as good as the original Canon pack. Lenmar seems to be a legitimate company making quality products, and I will look for their name if I ever need another camera battery.

By Dr.
On a recent trip to South America, this battery lasted for over 800 pictures and five days in my Canon T2i. I got about 250 pictures from the original equipment Canon battery. Unlike the really cheap batteries, it fits perfectly into the charger and the camera.

By donstein
These batteries fit the T3i, as OEM Canon LP-E8 battery at about a quarter the price. When purchasing additional batteries for your camera, do not buy those high capacity batteries. In America we're indoctrinated to think bigger or faster is better, but this is not the case with batteries. These batteries are rated at 7.4 volts, 8.3Wh 1120mAh rather than the supplied 7.2 volt, 8.1Wh 1120mAh Canon battery, which was a concern, but these work. They don't hold a charge as long as the OEM Canon battery but the camera shows the charge status of these batteries. These batteries are different than Canon's as they do not have the longevity of the Canon OEM LP-E8 batteries. If your concerned of running out of energy while out taking pictures, buy one or a couple of these for spares and they'll serve as additional batteries. Do not buy those high capacity batteries, ie. those rated at 1500nAh or even 1700mAh as your camera is designed for 1120mHa and as such everything works as designed. These batteries do not come with the orange plastic storage cap, but for the price, if this is a concern, you might chose to make a cover from thick paper. Again charge all your Li-ion batteries at a trickle rate, ie 200mA/hr in a low temperature whenever possible and you'll increase their longevity. Batteries do not last as long when quick charged with the resultant high temperatures. I located and purchased a new Canon OEM battery, at amazon.com, for less money, but had to pay more for shipping.
