Great alternative to more pricey Canon

After reading reviews of the Fotki (?) company selling this Off-Camera Hot-Shoe cord, I felt safe that if it did not perform I would be able to return it, so I took a chance and ordered it, and I highly recommend it. Although I have no experience to compare it to the Canon brand, it seems to me to be an excellent equivalent at a much lower price!The quality is there! It attached firmly to both the camera and my Speedlight and has the locking mechanism which makes it easy to get on and off quickly if needed. I used it on my Canon Rebel T1i with a Canon 580xxi Speedlight and there seemed to be no issued with communication between the two. It seems very sturdy and well made.I shot my first wedding using it last weekend, and I am very happy with it so far!If I come across any issues in the future I will come back here to document them.I would highly recommend it at this point.

Just got this cable yesterday and have a very favorable opinion about its build quality. As noted in the photographs the hot shoe connections are metal and seem well constructed. The plastic housings similarly seem substantial, and the cord is securely fastened with small strain relief collars where they enter the housings. Unstretched it is 23 inches long, and it can rather easily stretch 5 feet without straining the cord. It worked perfectly when attached to the camera and flash. I tried it on two cameras, a Canon PowerShot G9 and a Canon EOS Rebel T1i. The adapter seats securely on the camera and there is a locking mechanism that works well. The small locking lever feels substantial and itself locks in place when moved to the position that locks the adapter on the camera. So far this cable seems the equal of the Canon brand one.

Feels solid, nice locking mount

I have used it twice with my wedding bracket and am impressed by the apparent build quality. Time will tell if the appearance will yield the longevity that its durable feel implies, but all signs are good so far. The on-camera shoe lock is a nice touch, allowing the shoe to cinch down with one slide of the lever instead of a few twists of a lock ring. (You'll want to mark your hot shoe "front" and "back" so that you slide your flash in the correct direction. I slid mine in backwards the first time and though something was broken.)
